Quality Unit Patches

The Quality Unit Patches are used to recognize units for achieving a specified set of standards. The first of these patches, the National President's Unit Award, were implemented in 1973 as part of a four-year program. The first patch as blank, followed by patches with one, two, and three stars. All four of the patches could be worn on the right uniform sleeve.

In 1978, the Honor Unit Award patches were introduced, followed in 1986 by the Quality Unit Award patches. In 2003, an additional patch was initiated to recognize those units (like Troop 1776) who have 100% of their members subscribing to Boy's Life magazine.

Only one (the most recent) Quality Unit patch is to be worn. The patch is placed on the right uniform sleeve, four inches below the seam.

Troop 1776 has been a Quality Unit for every year of its existence.
